Wow! What an awesome start to a year! We have settled into routines and expectations very well. We have had our first field trip to the firehall and would like to thank all the parent volunteers for helping out on that trip. It was a success!
Thank you to the parents that have already had their special day with their kids. For those parents that have not, I will briefly explain a couple ways that we use you in our classroom. On your child's special day, you will get quite a bit of time to be with your child experiencing the day from their eyes. We do have a small block of time where we have one small group of kids come to the parent center. Your role is to facilitate this activity (often a craft or a game) with this small group. This group DOES NOT always include your child...they may be at a different center. If you are bringing a little sibling to the special day, please consider the role of the special helper. If the little sibling takes all of your attention, it makes it difficult for you to run your assigned center (which our program relies on), and takes away the special one-on-one time with your Kindergarten child. Please consider alternate arrangements if you feel your toddler will hinder your involvement in our day. Siblings are welcome if they are fairly independent and tend to blend into our classroom environment. Our center time almost always follows circle time (when your child leads the class in calendar activities). If time is an issue, parents or special helpers are free to leave after center time.
