We had a great week returning from our Easter Break. We used the entire week to focus on the number 100, and celebrated our 100th day on Thursday!
Mike Mountain Horse has begun raising funds for the Canadian Cancer Society. The school will be doing a cancer walk on April 12 afternoon and we are asking our students to collect from family to help with our goal of raising $3000.00 for cancer research. The Kindergartens are not participating in the walk, but we are still passing along all donations brought in to the school fundraiser. Our beloved Mrs. Wik, from preschool, will have her head shaved at an assembly on April 19. There is a cash donation box in the office.
Reminder: The Kindergarten children now attend recess at the same time as the rest of the school. This is one of our many little gradual attempts to get the students more ready for Grade One. So far, the students have done great, and they follow all rules in place beautifully.
April 27 - Aggie Days Field Trip - please let your teacher know if you are able to help come supervise a small group of children as they explore the farm stations.
Dates to watch for: (more information to follow)
May 19 - MMH Dance-a-thon - Parent Council fundraiser
May 26 - Family Celebration - this is a celebration where we invite TWO guests per student (mom/dad, OR grandparents, aunts, uncles, good friends, etc...but we ask to find childcare for younger siblings). The children showcase some songs they have learned, serve their TWO guests cake and juice, and give them some gifts they have been making. This is usually the last 45 minutes of the regular school hours for your child's class. PLEASE MARK IT IN YOUR CALENDARS!!!
After MAY long weekend - the students will begin to start their day like they will in Grade One. You are to bring your child to the playground before school. The assistants will be outside at the playground. The students are to walk up to their classroom assistant (Mrs. Murray/Mrs. McMullin) make eye contact and say hello and then are allowed to play before the bell. Their won't be supervision before 8:10/12:10. They will be led in like they are at recess when the bell goes (8:20/12:25). This is just one more way that we start to get them ready for Grade One.
