We had a great time in Kindergarten this week! This week was a pretty normal week. Just another reminder if you haven’t already done so, please send headphones to school with your child.
In addition, keep in mind that we have a very short duration for snack time in Kindergarten. A snack should be something small to tie your child over until he or she gets home. Please ensure the snack you are sending is nutritious as this is considered brain food. At school your child is expected to perform and learn and heavily sugared snacks may make this difficult for some children.
Looking forward to next week, our Kindergarten classes will be visiting the Fire Hall. Mrs. Morton/Miss Davies’ classes will be visiting the Fire Hall on September 30th. Mrs. Seaman/Miss Speakman’s classes will be visiting the Fire Hall on October 1st. The bus for the morning fieldtrip leaves at 8:45am and the bus for the afternoon fieldtrip leaves at 12:45pm.
Have a wonderful weekend! Looking forward to seeing everyone on Monday!
We had another great week in Kindergarten! This week we had our first library and computer classes. If you haven’t already done so, please send headphones to school with your child.
This week we talked about how we are all unique and have special talents. Talk to your children about what it means to be unique and celebrate what makes them special.
Looking forward to next week, our morning classes will be attending the Terry Fox assembly at 8:30 am on the morning of Monday September 21st. During the assembly Terry Fox (who is the uncle of the late, and well known Terry Fox) will be coming to our school to speak about cancer awareness and give an inspirational message to our students.
Tuesday September 22nd is school picture day, if you haven’t done so already make sure to send your picture forms to the school and bring your best smile!
Happy Friday! See you all on Monday!
We had a great first “official” week of classes wherein all of our morning class and afternoon class came together at their designated times! What fun it was to have everyone together at once!
During this week, most of us had our first book buddy class on Thursday. Mrs. Seaman’s classes are matched with two grade 2 classes (Mrs. McMillan’s class meets with the morning class and Ms. Lilley’s class meets with the afternoon class). Mrs. Morton’s class is matched with one grade 3 class (Miss. Rapson). Mrs. Morton’s classes will alternate meeting the grade 3s weekly. As it was the afternoon class that had book buddies this week, Mrs. Morton’s morning class will have their first book buddy class next Thursday!
For all of the Kindergarten classes, they will get to meet with their book buddies every other week. We use this time with our older buddies to get them to help us read, help us with crafts, and help us do different projects throughout the year.
We will have our first computer class Tuesday. If you haven’t sent headphones for your child to school yet, please do so as computers is the time we will use them. Other than that, next week is a normal week of classes. There are no major events happening.
Lastly, we want to thank everyone who came out to “Meet the Staff Night” yesterday! We had a great turnout and everyone seemed to really enjoy getting to show their family their classroom.
Have a great weekend and see you next week!
Hello to all of our 2015/2016 Kindergarten students and families! We have such a great group of kids this year and we were very excited to meet all of you last week during staggered entry. We look forward to getting to know each and every one of you this school year. We are going to have a wonderful year together!
Both of our Kindergarten programs will have an intern teacher until Christmas break. Miss Speakman and Miss Davies will be updating our Kindergarten blog until then.
Once a week there will be "Friday Focus" which is when we will upload a blog post to give you a heads up of what to expect during the next week at school. This way, you will have fresh reminders and a weekend to prepare if needed.
As of the 2014/2015 school year we cannot send newsletters by email unless you have signed a SPAM form due to FOIP (Freedom of Information Protection). If you have provided us with your email address and signed the SPAM form then you will receive a newsletter periodically by email. If you have not signed the form and not provided your email address, paper copies will be made available.
Each month a Special Day Calendar will be sent home with your child. This will be prepared mid-month of the month before to give you time to arrange an adult to accompany your child to school on their special day. We sure appreciate the special helpers every day, as we always have a special centre designated for them to run with a small group of children. The helpers are always appreciated as another set of adult hands, especially since Kindergarten is the year children learn all of the school rules and expectations.
Looking forward to seeing you all on Meet the Staff Night on September 10th!
