Once again, a huge thank you to all of our adult helpers who came out for our last skating day! It has been so fun to watch how much your children have improved in only four skating days.
On Monday we will be having a Safety City Assembly and practice bus evacuation outside. We invite you to ask your child about this experience afterwards.
We also have some fun events coming up next week! Our morning classes will get to enjoy the University of Lethbridge’s theatre production on December 1 while our afternoon classes will get to hear the story tellers on the same day!
Just a note that Mrs. Morton and Miss Davies’ Christmas card project will be coming home on Monday.
See you next week!
I hope everyone enjoyed the full week of school this week after such a short week last week! This week we had our third skating day. It is great to see how the students are becoming such confident skaters after only a few times on the ice. Just a reminder that we have our fourth and final skating day next Thursday, November 26th.
We have become aware that some of the links on our MMH Kindergarten website have not been working. We have looked into the problem and it appears that all of the website links are once again working correctly. This is an issue with Weebly itself and if you do encounter this problem logging out and in again will often resolve the issue.
Next week is a fairly typical week. Have a great weekend everyone! See you again on Monday!
This week was a short week in Kindergarten. We had our Superhero Day on Monday, which was a huge success. We hope the students enjoyed being superheroes for the day as much as we did! We will continue to discuss superheroes in our classroom over the next few weeks, focusing on heroes in our everyday lives.
Looking forward to next week we have a "Rock your Mocs" assembly on Monday November 16th at 12:30 PM in the gym. Students are encouraged to wear their moccasins or slippers to school that day in recognition of the First Nations People.
We have our third skating day on Thursday November 19th at Nicholas Sheran Ice Arena. Thank you again for all the parent volunteers who join us at the arena. We couldn't do skating days without your help!
Last week a flyer was sent home about a school wide service project that encourages families of MMH to consider donating to those less fortunate in our city. We will be collecting both unwrapped christmas gifts and gift cards for families in need until Friday, December 11th. Gifts will be donated to the Angel Tree project, local shelters for women and children and to new immigrants to our city, depending on the need and response. Donations will also be accepted at our Christmas concerts at College Drive Community church on the evenings of December 8th and December 10th.
Just a reminder we will continue to go outdoors for recess. As the weather is getting colder make sure to send your child to school with the appropriate clothing.
I hope everyone enjoyed the extra days off this week. Looking forward to seeing everyone again on Monday. From now on we will be having typical four day school weeks.
Last week we launched our new Superhero theme in Kindergarten. Our focus this month is “Superheroes in Training.” Students will spend time learning about superheroes, heroes in the community and at home, and how they too can become heroes as they learn the importance of being an ethical citizen.
As some of you may have noticed, Monday November 9 is no longer pajama day. Instead, we will be having Superhero Day. Students can come in a cape or costume if they already own one. That being said, we do not want you to go out and purchase anything. We will be making our own capes during the day!
If you haven’t already done so, please sign up for Parent Teacher Interviews online. If you are having trouble accessing the website, the office can assist you in booking an appointment. We value these opportunities to discuss your child’s learning progress with you, and we look forward to talking to you.
In addition, due to Remembrance Day and Parent Teacher Interviews, there will be no school for students from November 10 – 12.
Lastly, the Scholastic Book Fair will be held at our school from November 9 to November 13. We will not be going down as a class, but if you want to stop in it will be held in the library on November 9, 10, and 12 from 8:30 to 4 and November 13 from 8:30 to 1.
